Capitalize

Life is nothing more than one big joke or at least it is what I believe it should be. Most people spend their entire life in one big damn hurry from one goal point to the next. However, when most people are planning what they want their life to be like life is happening all around them. I once found myself in the same sort of mentality in my freshman year of high school and not realizing what was truly important to me. I was on what many would call the track to success swamping myself with too many advanced courses, and being a two sport athlete. What I didn’t realize is that everything I would learn is important was passing me by as I was too busy. Someone once told me that I shouldn’t take life so serious because none of us were going to get out alive in the end anyways. That is something I believe has merit because in the end the big number in your bank account isn’t worth much when your under six feet of earth. Life should be viewed as a playground full of experience an opportunity not one big contest. I believe a lot of people are living their life with the mentality to survive, and not to actually live. Considering that we will all have the same punctual end in this story my life isn’t something I would want to waste chasing around a big house or little green rectangular pieces of paper. The way I see it is that all roads take you to the same place it’s just a matter of how many turns you want to take. The world is one big sandbox all you’ve got to do is get out there and dig it. I personally don’t want to be the old sour man who yells at the neighborhood kids just because I realized that my days of youth and chance had passed me by. Life in the grand gesture is going to be all of what you make, and knowing there’s no mulligans I’m aiming for the cup.

I can recollect as a child waking up early and Saturday mornings, and sitting down in front of the television enjoying a sugary cereal. Now most people probably have a warm fuzzy feeling associated with the comical cartoons, but that may not be the case today. One cartoon series in particular which is a personal favorite is “Happy Tree Friends”. The show is like any other cartoon littered with the assortment of lovable and fuzzy little creatures. However, this cartoon differs from most that almost every character will meet its bloody death in each episode. That cartoon is set on the idea of killing of its cuddly cast in some of the most original, creative, and gory deaths ever. In one particular episode for example Nutty a sugar addicted squirrel visits the local quick mart. As he enter his eyes become fixed on a slushy dispenser, and begins to drink with direct mouth application. His lips freeze, and he rips them off to get free displaying his bloody set of chompers. As he stumbles backwards he pricks himself causing him to pop and release his bloody slurpee mixture. Though it never stops there, as his torso crawls for the automatic door exit it shuts only to crush the remaining upper half into pieces. “ Happy Tree Friends” is just the classic tale of some good friends hanging out and everything going really really wrong.

gone fishin

Country music is the worst thing that has ever plagued this earth. The way that every male country star has sounded the exact same since the genre has existed is just a slightly over whelming. A little variation could actually get the industry a little farther. Country music had to start its own award ceremony not because the industry was too big, but to give country artists an actual shot of winning some sad form of recognition. I also think that ninety percent of country listeners in Michigan are nothing more the posers. Unless your occupation is farmer I’d find country music hard to relate to. I’ve never even came close to doing any of the things half the songs are about. I’ve never had collard greens, nor went skinny dipping in a leech infested ditch with a barbecue stain on my white t-shirt with a girl in a miniskirt. It very well could be the well over done fast paced fiddle beat that bothers me, or on the flip side it could be the whiney slow piano songs with slower fiddle that does it. Either way I find country music to basically be the poison to my musical soul.

eye of the tiger

Everything in the universe seems to be aligning and shining down its good fortune upon me. I just generally feel like the man right now and that basically the world is at my mercy. Now I know this isn’t true, but for some reason everything in my life just seems to be going the right way for once. I have a decent job I’m performing better than I expected in college, and just am generally overall feeling like a success. Now I know what some people are thinking that this sounds conceded or that I’m some ego maniac but who doesn’t like to feel good? There is nothing wrong with tooting your own horn occasionally and I say if anyone reading this is just straight doing it than congratulations. We all deserve a little recognition every now and again so consider this a virtual pat on the back people. I see this success as a product of self, everything good is coming from me so I see this trend continuing from here. It takes hard work but seeing yourself actually doing it is rather quite self-motivating.

One of my favorite artists of all time is none other than the great Mr. Rager more commonly known as KID CuDI. He is one of the only artists I’ve ever payed legit money on a cd to listen to just so I could say I own the album. I also attended his concert over the summer and it immediately was placed into the top five shows I have ever seen. That atmosphere around it was just a crazy had to be there kind of experience and is almost hard to explain. The concert was just bumpin and I was glad I got to enjoy it with some good friends as well as meeting some new people there. CuDI is out there doing something different for once, and that is truly what I appreciate about him. His music is about personal experience and makes it easier to connect to and vibe with. I miss when music was about their true life rather than some made up flashy bullcrap that ever fourteen year old girl seems to go ape shit over. Im also a fan mof the way that most of his beats are electronic esk, and he has even featured some famous electronic djs in his music as well as his videos. Kid CuDI has more than earned his fame in my opinion and he is an artist I can feel good about making rich.

hopeful thinking

I wish the radio would play a song about something other then going to a club, tearen the club up, and or poppen a bottle no one cares whose crunker or doper or who has more "stacks". It seems as if songs have become one big stage of who can brag about being better then the next person. songs should be about something more significant than a constant 1 up contest. it also appears to me that the radio plays the same 8 songs in a rown for about a month and a half until a newer version of the same thnig comes and kicks one of the songs aside. i would greatly appreciate a little diversity and consideration to the msot important person the listener!

womp womp

a great music genre that many people overlook as a silly annoying bunch of thrown together sounds is techno more specifically my favoirte sub genre known as dubstep. dubstep is best described in my opinion as bassfull womps and squawks, but to most appreciate the music you have to see it live. there is just a certain feeling one gets as the beat drops in a dark light effect poppen club while simultaneously your packed shoulder to shoulder with some stranger sweating and rubbing up on you. though at first this doesnt sound appealing, but one should not speak before they do. i assure you there is nothing similar in the world, and though i enjoy listening to the music on cds it just doesn't do the live version justice. so next time you have the chance get out there and catch a show.
